Beach Volleyball Finishes out the Boise State Beach Bash

FIU secured their first program victory over South Florida in their last match of the meet

MIAMI - Beach Volleyball finishes its time at the Boise State Beach Bash with a 1-3 record.

The Panthers started the meet with their first of two ranked matches, going up against No. 11 Grand Canyon for the second time in two weeks. FIU fell to the Lobos, 5-0. The Panthers' second ranked match of the day and the meet came against the host-team, No. 19 Boise State. The Panthers fell to the Broncos, 4-1. FIU's only win came from the Panthers' No. 1 pair in Katarina Drozd and Brianna Luoma. The duo dropped their first set in a close 29-31 contest, before winning their next two, 21-18 and 15-4, taking the court in FIU's favor.

 

Day two started with a contest against Washington, with the Panthers once again dropping the dual, 5-0.

 

The Panthers finished out the meet with their first ever dual against South Florida, winning 3-2 over the Bulls. A pair of freshmen in Elizabeth Nye and Lauren Coady took court four for FIU in straight sets (21-19 and 21-15) to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Madalyn Wade and Nicole Robison gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead with a victory on court two in three sets (21-17, 14-21, 15-13). Katarina Drozd and Brianna Luoma clinched the match for FIU in easy straight sets, 21-13 and 21-11.

 

 

UP NEXT

The Panthers will head to the Nola Classic for their last meet before the Conference USA Championships in Youngsville, Louisiana on April 23-25.
