JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was once again a strong weekend for FIU outdoor track & field, who had a pair of event wins and a school record highlighting two days of standout performances at the East Coast Relays hosted by North Florida.
Day one was marked by a record-setting performance by
Beata Wrigstad, who in her outdoor debut broke the school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:45.21, shattering Paola Reategui's 2009 record of 10:47.59 and claiming the freshman record as well.
Ane Martin Del Campo continued her strong stretch run, this time moving into second in the record books in the 1500m with a time of 4:23.20. That mark placed her second in the meet.
After doing so during the Georgia Tech Invite during their previous meet, the Panthers swept the javelin throw, with
Blake Orr (69.24m) earning his third such event win of the season and
Isabell-Mary Luik (51.83m) claiming her first such win and moving into fourth in the program's record books.
Selena Calix (43.36m) placed second in the event.
Lorena Enamorado jumped into fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:10.42, moving into fourth in the record books.
Amaya Bien-Aime (3rd in high jump, 1.73m) and
Kylie Neira (4th in pole vault, 3.95m) both added some stellar performances in their events to close the regular season.
UP NEXT
FIU will have a week off to prepare for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships in Murfreesboro beginning on May 15.
