MIAMI — FIU's softball program, in conjunction with Conference USA (CUSA), announced its 2027 dates and opponents for conference play on Wednesday.
The Panthers, under the direction of first-year head coach Olivia Watkins, will have 27 games in CUSA play in 2027, five road three-game series and four home three-game sets at Baptist Health Stadium. All series will be Friday-Sunday with one game each day except for the Easter weekend series and the final three-game series of the season, of which will both go Thursday-Saturday.
FIU will embark on its 2027 CUSA campaign following a standout 16-win season in conference play in 2026. The 2026 Panthers qualified for the CUSA Tournament for the first time since 2023 and won five series in CUSA play. FIU returns a core group that features All-CUSA performer Leah Clark, standout pitcher J'dah Girigorie and shortstop Zamya McBurrows.
In a look at the 2027 slate, the Panthers will open with Western Kentucky, which FIU didn't face in 2026, March 12-14 at home. FIU will then take to the road for a series March 19-21 at Kennesaw State, whom the Panthers swept in 2026. The home slate continues with three games against New Mexico State, March 26-28, to close out the first month of conference play.
FIU will then have back-to-back road series to open April at Sam Houston (April 2-4) and Jax State (April 9-11). The Panther then return home for a three-game weekend with Middle Tennessee, April 16-18. FIU travels to Missouri State next (April 23-25) in what will be the two programs first-ever battles as CUSA opponents.
Senior Weekend, the Panthers' final home series, will be April 30-May 2 as FIU hosts Delaware for the first time since 2016. The final weekend of CUSA play for the Panthers is in Lynchburg, Va., May 6-8, as FIU will face off with Liberty. The 2027 CUSA Championships will be played at Jana McGinnis Field in Jacksonville, Ala., hosted by Jax State.
