Box Score MIAMI (Feb. 10, 2013) – The FIU Panthers (1-4) lost their third consecutive contest on Sunday afternoon at the 2013 Panther Invitational, falling to Georgetown (1-4), 2-0 at the FIU Softball Complex.
The Hoyas gave themselves an early 1-0 advantage in the game's opening inning. A single off the bat of Sophia Garqicevich was bobbled by FIU left fielder
Nicole Rascon, allowing leadoff hitter Sam Giovanniello to score.
Georgetown's Hannah Slovacek added an insurance run in the fifth inning for the Hoyas, singling to centerfield plating Shakara Lowe, who had reached via a leadoff single.

Mariah Dawson (0-2) suffered her second consecutive loss of the tournament. The junior tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits on two runs (one earned), walking three and recording eight strikeouts.
Georgetown starter, Megan Hyson (1-2) earned the victory, tossing seven innings of three-hit softball. She issued a free pass and fanned four Panthers.
FIU next will host Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday evening in a doubleheader. First pitch is for 6:00 p.m., with the second game scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
