Panthers drop 2-0 Decision to UCF

Box Score MIAMI (April 10, 2013) – The FIU Panthers (24-20) lost a non-conference matchup against UCF, 2-0, on Wednesday night at the FIU Softball Complex.

The Knights scored the only runs in the contest in the top of the sixth inning. An RBI single to center by Kalyn Cenal scored Maddy Schroeder, who reached on a fielder's choice, to put UCF ahead 1-0.

UCF would get the second run during the third out of the inning.

With runners on first and third and two outs, UCF attempted a double-steal with Kahley Novak managing to score before pinch-runner, Hayley Barrow was tagged out by Brie Rojas (2-6-3-4 on the rundown play).

FIU's lone hits belonged to Rojas and Shelby Graves.

Mariah Dawson (5-12) took the loss, tossing a complete game, while allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits, walking two and striking out three.

The Panthers will next host Troy on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader slated for 4 p.m.
