Eight-run third inning lifts Panthers over Owls, 11-8

Box Score Boca Raton, Fla. (April 17, 2013) – An eight-run offensive explosion for the Panthers (27-21, 10-8 SBC) helped provide an 11-8 road victory over the FAU Owls (25-25, 8-10 SBC) on Wednesday night.

Amber Curry led off the game with solo home run to centerfield.

The Owls tied the game and took the lead in the bottom half of the first on RBI singles by Carnesha Thompson and Jordan Stovall. The ensuing hitter, Alexa Ballard, hit a grand slam over the left centerfield wall to give FAU a 6-1 advantage, knocking starter Mariah Dawson out of the game.

Rachel Slowik capped off the inning with a two-run double to left, providing the Panthers with a 10-6 lead.

The Panthers scored their final run in the fifth courtesy of a single by Aleima Lopez that plated Bre Kaye.
