FIU Hosts Old Dominion in Inaugural C-USA Game at U.S. Century Bank Arena
Coming of a four-game road swing, the FIU men's basketball team (9-8, 1-1 C-USA) hosts the Old Dominion Monarchs (7-9, 1-1 C-USA) on Thursday, Jan. 16. Tipoff from Lime Court at U.S. Century Bank Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
The Panthers return to the friendly confines of U.S. Century Bank Arena after being on the road for nearly a month. FIU played four road contests since its last home game, going 1-3, including the team's first-ever conference win as a member of C-USA. FIU is coming off an 85-51 loss at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Unable to overcome a 22-0 run in the first half, the Panthers suffered their first conference loss of the season.

Tymell Murphy led all Panthers with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native converted 5-of-13 shooting from the floor and also notched a team-high three steals. Also scoring in double-figures was redshirt junior
Dennis Mavin, who added 12 points and grabbed three rebounds.
FIU finished the night shooting 35.3 percent from the floor (18-of-51) and converted 13-of-22 attempts from the free-throw line (59.1 percent). The Bulldogs finished the contest shooting 41.8 percent from the floor (28-of-67) and were 22-of-36 from the charity stripe. LA Tech held a 51-34 advantage on the boards, including 20 offensive rebounds, resulting in 20 second-chance points.
The Panthers enter this week's action averaging 70.1 points-per-game, while shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 31.9 percent from 3-point range. The Panthers are converting 67.2 percent of its attempts from the free-throw line. Defensively, FIU is allowing 71.1 points-per-game as the opposition is shooting 41.6 percent from the floor. The Panthers are out-rebounding their opponents 664-591, averaging 39.1 boards-per-contest.
Leading the Panthers in scoring is Murphy, who comes into Thursday's contest, averaging 16.2 points-per-game (No. 8 in the conference) on 60.1 percent shooting from the floor (No. 2 in the conference and No. 17 in the nation). The Brooklyn, N.Y., native is averaging 7.9 rebounds-per-contest (No. 8 in the conference) and is the only C-USA player to rank in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native's 60.1 percent from the floor is the third-highest shooting percentage by a Panther in a single season in FIU basketball history. For his career, Murphy is shooting 58.3 percent from the floor (303-of-520) good for No. 1 all-time at FIU.
