MIAMI (April 3, 2014) – The FIU baseball team (23-6, 7-5) hosts the Old Dominion Monarchs this weekend in a three-game Conference USA series. Friday and Saturday's games are slated to begin at 6 p.m., with the series finale on Sunday scheduled for 1 p.m.
Weekend Promotions
- Friday's game will have an FIU camo hat giveaway for the first 50 fans.
- Saturday will be Little League Day, Dollar Hot Dog Day and Faculty, Staff & Retiree Night, in conjunction with the Faculty, Staff & Family Picnic prior to the game. $1 tickets will be available for purchase with a valid FIU ID at the gate.

- Other promotions throughout the weekend include Play Pink, where you can purchase $1 raffle tickets. The winner receives a team-signed, pink baseball helmet and proceeds go to the Susan G. Scouting Old Dominion
- The Monarchs enter the weekend with a 17-12 overall record and a 6-6 mark in C-USA action.
- ODU is hitting .278 as a team, with 12 home runs and 156 RBI, one of the teams that has the most power in the conference.
- Leading the way for the Monarchs on the offensive side of things is P.J. Higgins, who is hitting at a .344 clip with 44 hits, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.
- Josiah Burney leads the squad with 5 home runs and 25 RBI.
- Friday night's starter, Andy Roberts, is 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA in seven starts. He has allowed 35 hits in 36 2/3 innings pitched.
All-Time vs. the Monarchs
- This will be the first ever matchup between FIU and ODU.
- ODU head coach Chris Finwood has a 12-7 record vs. FIU, as he served as the head coach at Western Kentucky, an old FIU Sun Belt foe, from 2009-11.
