MIAMI (Aug. 28, 2014) – Following a dominating performance against North Florida on Sunday, the FIU women's soccer team (1-1-0, 0-0-0) is off to California for two games, one of which pins the Panthers against a nationally ranked squad. FIU will face No. 15 Santa Clara Friday at 10 p.m. ET, before facing Pacific at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Despite being outshot in both of its first two games, the team has put up the same number of goals as FIU this season (3). Sofia Huerta, a M.A.C Hermann Trophy Watch List selection has a team-high two goals, both of which came against UC Irvine. She led the Broncos in goals in 2013 (16). Between the pipes, Andi Tostanoski returns for her third year as a starter, following a 2013 campaign where she posted six solo shutouts and combined for three additional ones. This will be the first matchup between FIU and Santa Clara.
Scouting the Tigers/ Series HistorySearching for their first win of 2014, the Pacific Tigers have been outscored, 5-1, in two matches. Pacific fell, 4-1, on Friday to St. Joseph's, before dropping a 1-0 contest to Sacramento State on Sunday. The Tigers return 16 players from one season ago, while adding a large, 11-player, recruiting class. FIU and Pacific will be meeting for the first time in either team's history.
Home Sweet HomeFIU will play a season-high seven-straight games from the FIU Soccer Stadium, following a three-game road trip, which takes the Panthers to the West Coast. It's the longest such home streak since FIU played eight in a row at home during the 1995 season, spanning the entire month of October.
In the ZoneFIU's offense has done a good job imposing its will on opponents, outshooting teams, 28-15, and 10-7 on goal. In the first half alone, FIU is outshooting opponents, 18-6.

Ashleigh Shim posted two goals on Sunday, Aug. 24 against North Florida. Those two goals moved the Jacksonville, Fla., native into the top 10 in scoring. She's tied for No. 10 in goals (17) with
Joleen Hinks. Points-wise, she is No. 9 all-time with 44 points.
Making a PointFollowing her assist on Aug. 24, Leiva is now has 69 career points with the Panthers, moving her one point shy from tying for No. 5 all-time.
Closing in on RecordChelsea Leiva's assist on Aug. 24 at North Florida marks the 17th of her storied career. With that, the Royal Palm Beach, Fla., native sits alone in third place in school history. She is one assist shy of sharing the No. 2 spot and eight off from owning the school record in assists.
