BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 11, 2015) – The seventh-ranked FIU sand volleyball team put up a dominating performance against cross-town rival Florida Atlantic on Wednesday afternoon from the FAU Sand Courts. With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-1 in dual action on the season.
Four-of-five pairs saw straight-set victories led by the No. 3 team of seniors
Martyna Gluchowicz and
Anna Budinska. The duo defeated Andie Galinis and Brittany Pellitteri, 21-9, 21-17, while the No. 1 tandem of
Maryna Samoday and
Anja Licka snapped their two-match losing skid with a 21-13, 21-13 win over Mandy McIntosh and Chelsey Tekavec.
FIU's other two straight-set wins came at the No. 2 and No. 5 spots as
Kristine Monforte and
Summer Nash defeated Beth Shoaff and Gabby Dischler, 21-15, 21-15, and
Marina Boulanger and
Tina Toghyiyani won at the five spot, 21-18, 21-17.
