Nevena Stojakovic picked up her seventh career shutout in the effort.
After limited action in the first 20 minutes of the first half, the Panthers found their feet and generated the match's first score in the 26

Scarlet Montoya broke up the Anteaters' attack at midfield and connected with Weinhardt at the top of the 18-yard mark, who went low past the UC Irvine keeper.

Alyssa Robinson padded FIU's lead three minutes before the half with an unassisted score. After having her first attempt blocked in the box, Robinson buried the goal high. Stojakovic preserved the scoreless first half for the Anteaters with a diving save in the closing moments of the first half.
Montoya nearly netted the Panthers' third goal in FIU's first chance of the second stanza in the 52
nd minute. Senior
Nikki Rios continued the FIU-heavy half with a look approaching the 65
th minute. FIU's defense continued to keep the pressure on the Anteaters throughout the final 20 minutes of the half and held UC Irvine to just one shot.
The Panthers are back in action this Sunday, as FIU hosts the No. 12 Florida Gators at 1 p.m.
