@FIUVolleyball Falls to Rice, 3-0

HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 25, 2015) – The FIU volleyball team (8-5, 2-1 C-USA) fell to the Rice Owls (11-4, 1-0 C-USA), 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 26-24), on Friday evening at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas.
 
The loss marks the first conference loss for the Panthers this season.
 
The Panthers finished the night with a .037 hitting percentage, notching 28 kills, while committing 24 attacking errors. Rice hit .250 for the match and held a 12-6 edge in total blocks over FIU.  
 
FIU was led by senior Lucia Castro, who posted 10 kills and 14 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior Adriana McLamb tallied a 10 digs in the match, while freshman Katie Friesen totaled 16 assists versus the Owls.  
 
The Panthers will travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to take on the WKU Hilltoppers on Sunday, Sept. 27. The match is set for 1 p.m. ET.
