Hogan Takes Home Second-Team All Conference USA Honors

MIAMI (Nov. 16, 2016) – Conference USA announced the 2016 Volleyball All-Conference Teams Wednesday and FIU senior Katie Hogan has earned second-team honors.

This is Hogan's first All-Conference honor of her FIU career. She was the powerhouse of the team in her final season, leading in kills (329), points (384), attacks (882) and double-doubles (10). Hogan also posted the sixth-highest hitting percentage among C-USA leaders this season with a 3.63 mark.

In her second and final year at FIU, Hogan has surpassed her previous totals in almost every statistical category. Last fall, in her junior year, Hogan posted 205 kills, 262 points, 618 attacks and 98 digs. She finished third on the team for kills with 2.11 kills per set as compared to this year's 3.23 average.

Hogan was a huge asset to this year's lineup. Her aggressive play helped FIU to battle against the competitive C-USA programs this season. She continued to raise the bar and broke several of her season highs in multiple matches this year, posting an impressive 30.5 points against Middle Tennessee on Nov. 10, 2016. She contributed 25 kills in 48 attempts.

"Katie is one of the best all-around players that I've coached," said FIU Head Coach Rita Buck-Crockett. "She is a team player and also really put her heart into the team itself and it showed by her being one of top hitters in Conference USA. We appreciate everything she has done for the indoor program and we look forward to her bringing the beach program to Nationals again this year."

Hogan looks to continue her success on the sand in the upcoming beach season. The Panthers will take the sand courts on March 2, 2017 in the FAU tournament against the host Owls in Boca Raton, Florida.
