MIAMI – FIU freshman Abbie Hughes was named Conference USA Setter of the Week after her performances against Florida Atlantic and North Texas over the weekend.

Hughes collected 68 assists as the Panthers split their matches, winning against the Owls and losing to the Mean Green. 

Hughes also had 15 digs, four blocks, three kills and two service aces.

Hughes leads FIU with 8.49 assists per set on the season. She is currently ninth in C-USA with that mark.

Hughes is the second Panther to win one of the conference's weekly awards. Last week, Lina Bernier won the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honor.

FIU returns to the home court Friday when the Panthers host Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
