MIAMI (Oct. 24, 2018)- It is no surprise that freshman Maha Gouda has been crowned C-USA's Diver of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
 
Coming off of a stellar performance this weekend at Dual-A-Pool-Ooza. The Alexandria native picked up three-straight first-place finishes. Her highest score, come from the 3-meter springboard where she posted an impressive 320.80.
 
"Last weekend I got the chance to see how she kept being consistent, regardless of the external conditions," said diving coach Rio Ramirez.
 
The poised rookie, who was challenged to perform in an increased altitude and a 28 degree drop in temperature, appeared unaffected by mother nature's delights when she performed the 5152D dive, one of the more challenging dives on the agenda. The 5152D, which requires forward, 2 ½ somersault, one twist, has been in the works since her arrival on campus this summer—and was ultimately her best dive of the weekend.
 
A delighted coach Ramirez, nods at her ability to absorb corrections and her improvements in every outing.  
 
"Maha keeps improving her game on the springboard," said Ramirez, "We can see how it is all developing and she is building her confidence.
 
The Diver of the Week superlative, comes two weeks after her first time receiving the recognition on October, 9^th— which followed her performance at the TYR Fall Classic. At the home event she secured a first-place finish from the 1-meter (272.50) as well as from the 3-meter (276.65).
 
Gouda, who is only a month into her rookie campaign, has already registered five-first place finishes.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers will return to the pool on Nov.2. They are scheduled to travel to Fort Pierce, Fla for a one day meet at Indian River State College. Where they will go up against the Pioneers and Nova at 11 A.M.
