MIAMI (Oct. 4, 2018) – The FIU swim and dive team will open its home slate this Friday, Oct. 5 as the Panthers host the TYR Fall Classic presented by Swiss Timing at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
Action will begin on Friday at 4 p.m. ET, with second day festivities beginning at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday. A full meet program of this weekend's TYR Fall Classic can be found

"We are pumped to get back in the pool after not starting the season the way we wanted," head coach
Randy Horner said. "This format is exciting and the field of teams will challenge us a lot."
The Panthers will be joined by seven other schools this weekend as Army, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, George Washington, Grand Canyon, Old Dominion and TCU will make the trip to the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
This weekend's meet format will feature eight women's squads and six men's teams. Each team will be limited to nine swimmers and two divers, with athletes being able to enter a max of three events per session and no more than two individual events.
Select members of the FIU swim and dive team that will not be competing at the TYR Fall Classic will head over to Fort Myers as they swim against Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 12 p.m. ET.
LAST TIME OUT
FIU fell to crosstown rival Miami last time out, with the Hurricanes taking a 165-133 decision in Coral Gables. Sophomore
Stephanie Hussey led the way for the Panthers in the pool, as she claimed two events to post a stellar start to her season. Hussey won the 500 and 1000-yard freestyles with times of 5:04.57 and 10:29.37 respectively.
FIU had three divers earn NCAA qualifying marks as well last time out, with
Maha Gouda qualifying for the 1 and 3 meter after scores of 288.30 and 306.23 respectively, while
Rachel Foord and
Brooke Bouchard qualified for the 1 meter with marks of 286.05 and 270.23
