MIAMI – FIU volleyball standouts
Lina Bernier (San Juan, Puerto, Rico) and
Dorina Klinger (Feldkirchen, Austria) were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The duo will now be on the ballot for Google Cloud Academic All-America® honors.

Bernier, a redshirt junior libero, who was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – for the second time this season – on Monday, has a 3.80 grade-point-average in biomedical engineering. Bernier leads FIU in digs on the year with a team and career-high 501, and her 4.83 digs-per-set is good enough for fourth in C-USA. She has also recorded 231 digs in C-USA play, for 4.36 per-set, which is good enough for fifth in C-USA. In addition, she has 17 aces on the year. She recorded her first career double-double with a 28-dig, 12-assist effort at UTSA on Oct. 12, and has 10 20-plus dig matches this season.
Klinger, who boasts a 4.0 grade-point-average in marketing, is currently Is fourth on the team in aces with 12, while also recording 53 kills and 32 digs on the season. She recorded a career-high eight kills and eight blocks against Jacksonville and had eight blocks against Florida Atlantic. She also had six blocks against Delaware and Wofford.
FIU has earned the No. 6 seed for this week's 2018 Air Force Reserve Conference USA Volleyball Championship to be held at the Cam Henderson Center at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, Nov. 16-18. The Panthers, who finished the regular season with a 9-5 record (17-11 overall), will face the three seed, UTSA, in the final match of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.
