MIAMI (Nov.19. 2018) – The Panthers have been tabbed to collegeswimming.com team rankings list.
The site which puts the Panthers at No. 9 on the Division 1 mid-major team rankings also has the Panthers logged in at No. 44 on the NCAA team rankings list.
The national recognition follows FIU's outing at Missouri on Nov. 15-17, where they finished in fourth-place and faced ranked opponents; Missouri who checks in at No. 5 on the NCAA list, Arkansas at No. 16 and Boise State at No.34. In addition to, Oklahoma Baptist, BYU, Drury McKendree, Southern Illinois and Wyoming.
At Missouri, FIU swept all three diving events. Sophomore
Rachel Foord dazzled from the spring board, winning both the one and three-meter events, from the three-meter she achieved a personal best score of 324. Freshman
Maha Gouda won the platform diving event with a score of 282.95 and freshman Kaitlyn Fredricks qualified for NCAA zones.
This was the second meet in a row where the Panthers dominated from the diving board. At Indian River on Nov. 2 freshman
Maha Gouda was victorious from the 1-meter springboard and broke the school record from the 3-meter where she picked up a score of 347.63.
The Panthers are back in action at Biscayne Aquatic Center for a trio of home meets starting on January 5th, 2019.
