FIU drops 3-2 contest to visiting South Carolina

MIAMI (Nov. 2, 2018) – Despite a furious comeback late, the FIU men's soccer team dropped a tough contest to South Carolina on Senior Night as the Panthers fell 3-2.

With the win, USC improves to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in conference play, while FIU falls to 7-9 and 5-3 after the regular season finale.

The Gamecocks struck first blood on the night, after Tucker Monheimer scored on a pass by Mitchell Myers in the 28th minute of the first half. Myers assisted on another USC goal right before the break, as he found Paul Quildies to extend the visitor's score 2-0.

Myers continued his great night after scoring on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to push the lead to 3-0 in the second half. The Panthers mounted a furious comeback however, as Inigo Sagarduy and Adam Hassan each scored their first goals of the season to close the gap to 3-2 and give the Gamecocks a scare before the clock hit all zeros.

Joris Ahlinvi led FIU in shots with four, while Hugo Fauroux grabbed four saves on the night.
