MIAMI (Dec. 15, 2018) – The FIU women's basketball team fell to visiting Howard on Saturday, 89-62, to close out the weekend.
With the loss, FIU is 2-8 on the season, while Howard is 7-3 on the year.
The pair of
Kylee O'Hara and
Shante Walker led the Panthers, each scoring 12 points on the night.
Sarah Edmond paced the Bison, earning a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, while adding five rebounds on the night. Jayla Thornton (16), Krislyn Marsha (14) and Gia Thorpe (11) each scored in double figures for Howard.
FIU fell behind early, with Howard taking a 23-16 lead after the first period. The Bison extended their lead by nine going into the locker room, with a 42-26 advantage.
The Panthers outscored the Bison coming out of the break, by earning 19 points to close the gap to 60-45. The momentum swung back in favor of the Bison however in the fourth quarter, as Howard outscored FIU 29-17 in the final period to earn an 89-62 victory over the Panthers.

The Panthers will be off until next week as FIU hosts Alcorn State on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 12 p.m. ET to kick off the 2018 FIU Holiday Tournament.
