The Basics
·       Shannon Saile struck out 15 batters again and Venessa Gallegos homered twice including a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift FIU over Cal State Northridge, 7-3, Saturday on Day 2 of the Marucci Desert Classic.
·       For the third time this season, Saile recorded 15 strikeouts in game. She accomplished it twice during opening weekend again South Carolina and St. John's.
·       Gallegos went 2-for-3 with six RBI for FIU. Her two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game, 3-3.
·       Cal State Northridge led off the game with a solo homer to take a 1-0 lead. FIU tied the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the fourth on Julia Gilbert's RBI double.
