Shannon Saile (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) recorded a career-high 18 strikeouts in a 10-inning marathon, but FAU got an RBI single in the top of the 10
th inning to even the series and edge the Panthers, 1-0.

The Basics
- Megan Kugelmann shut out FAU for the first five innings and the Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the third and bottom of the fifth. Kugelmann finished with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched and allowed one run on three hits.
- Kasandra Castle led the offense going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Tatyana Forbes, Jessica Rivera, Julia Gilbert and Venessa Gallegos each had two hits as FIU out-hit FAU, 12-3.
- Castle's two-run single the bottom of the third put FIU, 2-0. Rivera followed Castle with a single and Castle scored on a fielding error on the same play putting the Panthers ahead, 3-0.
- FIU used the long ball to extend its lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Castle launched her fifth homer of the season – a solo shot to give FIU a 4-0 lead. Rivera then followed with her own solo homer – her third of the season pushing the lead to 5-0. Gilbert then doubled and scored on Gallegos' RBI single for a 6-0 lead.
- FAU's lone run came in the top of the sixth on Emily Lochten's solo home run.

The Basics
- Saile scattered eight hits, walked three and allowed just one run while recording the career-high 18 strikeouts.
- FIU out-hit the Owls, 12-8, led by Jackie Schoff who went 3-for-5. Jessica Rivera, Julia Gilbert and Araceli Peralta each had two hits.
- After nine scoreless innings, Tatum Buckley's RBI single scored Samanth Lageyre giving the Owls the 1-0 lead.
- FIU tried to force another extra inning in the bottom of the 10th. Rivera led off with a double to centerfield, but Olson got a strikeout and back-to-back groundouts to end the game.
- FIU stranded 13 baserunners.
- Saile became the fifth pitcher in the NCAA this season with 18 or more strikeouts in a game. Alabama's Alexis Osorio struck out a NCAA-best 21 batters on March 10 against Fordham.
- Saile recorded at least 15 strikeouts in a game for the fourth time this season, which is tops in the country.
