Game Details
No. 22 Virginia 2, FIU 0
FIU (2-5), Virginia (3-0-2)
Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 | 7 p.m.
Charlottesville, Virginia | Klöckner Soccer Stadium

The Basics
- The FIU men's soccer team headed on the road for the first of three-straight matches, beginning tonight, looking for a signature win against one of the premier teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference – and traditionally in the nation – in No. 22 Virginia. The Cavaliers, however, had other ideas handing the Panthers a tough 2-0 loss at the Klöckner Soccer Stadium in Charlottesville. FU drops to 2-5 on the year and Virginia improves to 3-0-2.

- Joris Ahlinvi (Bordeaux, France) led the Panthers offensively on the night with three shots, including FIU's only offering on net during the night. Santiago Patino (Orlando, Florida/Freedom) had two shots and Jakob Rylander (Stockholm, Sweden) had one.

- Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France), who returned to the net for FIU, after sitting out the Panthers 2-1 win against UAB on Sept. 14, recorded four saves on the night.

- Virginia held an 8-3 advantage in shots during the first half of play, however both sides found themselves locked into a defensive struggle. The Cavaliers, however, took advantage of FIU's misfortune then the Panthers put in an own goal on a Joe Bell corner kick in the 40' minute of play. It was Bell's first goal of the season.

- The Cavaliers then struck quickly in the second half on a Cabrel Happi Kamseu header off a Bell corner kick in the 52' minute to open the match up. That proved to be all that Virginia needed as they shut the Panthers down defensively in the second 45 minutes of play, holding them to three shots, again, in the second stanza. Virginia recorded 11 of the 14 total shots in the second half.

Stat of the Match
Virginia controlled the match offensively during the 90 minutes of play recording a 19-6 shots advantage, including 6-1 in shots on goal. The Cavaliers also outshot the Panthers 11-3 in the second half.

Quotable
"We played against a very athletic and strong side in UVA. Guys were continually tested tonight and we now focus our attention to getting back on the field training in the next days leading up to play a good side in UNF." - FIU Head Coach Kevin Nylen
