CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Jan. 10, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team fell to Charlotte on Thursday night, with the Panthers dropping a 69-54 contest to the 49ers.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 3-13 overall and 0-3 in C-USA action. Charlotte moves to 9-6 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
Freshman
Ce'Nara Skanes earned her third double-double of the season, after scoring 12 points and hauling in 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers. Sophomore
Shante Walker scored 12 points off the bench to round out FIU's double-digit scorers. The 49ers were led by Jazmin Harris, who scored 19 points on the night.
The margin was just one point after the first quarter, but the 49ers pulled away in the second period after outscoring the Panthers by 10 to take a 32-21 advantage into the locker room.
Both teams came out of the break on fire as FIU scored 22 points in the third quarter, but Charlotte still maintained as the 49ers matched the Panthers' effort with 24 points of their own. The fourth quarter was close as well, but the damage was already done as the 49ers held on and earned a 69-54 victory.
