Rachel Foord was named Conference USA Diver of the Week for the third-straight week.
"It feels good to have three consecutive Diver of the Week nominations, especially as we head into conference and NCAA Zones," said Foord.
Earning her fourth weekly superlative of the year, Foord is C-USA's most recognized diver. Following her performance at the South Florida Diving Invitational where she posted a personal-best score of 313.35 from the 1-meter event and achieved a first-place finish. From the platform, she placed second with a score of 266.65.
"Being consistent and stepping up in the last few competitions, makes me believe in myself as an athlete. Most importantly, I was able to get a personal-best from the 1-meter and my scores have improved as the season progressed," said Foord.
The Melbourne, Australia native currently ranks second in the conference, to teammate
Maha Gouda, from the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, with her scores of 313.35, and 324.00, respectively.
In addition to her impressive performance in the pool, Foord maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.96.
"Rachel keeps working hard and is determined to keep reaching her potential. Not only as diver but in the classroom as well. She takes her academics very seriously and doing well academically boosts her confidence tremendously," said head diving coach
Rio Ramirez.
Foord and the rest of the swimming and diving team, prepare to defend their crown at the Conference Championship Tournament at the MaCauley Aquatic Center. The four-peat title holders will travel to Atlanta, GA and action is scheduled to begin Wednesday Feb. 27.
