HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 14, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team couldn't overcome Rice on the road as the Panthers dropped a 76-44 contest to kickoff their Texas road swing.
With the loss, FIU falls to 4-21 overall and 0-11 in conference play, while Rice improves 21-3 overall and 12-0 in league action.
The Panthers were led by
Ieva Spigule, who scored 14 points on the night. Rice had three players score in double figures, with Nicole Iademarco earning 15 points.
Rice jumped out to a 24-10 lead in the first quarter, before carrying a 47-17 advantage into the locker room. The Owls only outscored the Panthers 29-27 in the second half, but the damage was done as Rice picked up the 76-44 victory.
