MIAMI (Feb. 21, 2019) – For the first road trip of the season, the FIU baseball team will head to Port Charlotte, Florida for two games against South Dakota State as part of the Snowbird Classic.
Friday's game is slated for 2:00 p.m., before capping the weekend at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. FIU's game notes for the weekend can be found

LAST TIME OUT
FIU's bats came out hot in the first midweek of the season, scoring nine runs in the first inning.
Adan Fernandez led the Panther offensive outburst going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Both of the sophomore's RBIs came on a first inning home run to left center. FIU's bullpen held the Wildcats to just two hits over the final four innings to preserve a Panther victory.
AT THE PLATE
Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. has come out of the gates on fire to start the 2019 season. FIU's lone senior leads the Panthers in a number of offensive categories including batting average (.563), hits (9), doubles (5), slugging (1.063) and total bases (17). Hampton, Jr. is also tied for team lead in home runs (1) and runs scored (5).
UP NEXT
The Panthers will return home to host crosstown rival Miami on Feb. 27th before heading back out on the road for a three-game weekend series at Jacksonville State on March 1-3.
