MIAMI (Feb. 7, 2019) - The 2019 softball season will begin on Friday for FIU as the Panthers host a pair of teams to kickoff the Felsberg Invitational. 

Opening Day will begin with Memphis on Friday at 2:30 p.m., with the Panthers taking on Michigan State to close out the first day at 7:15 p.m. FIU will play four more times over the weekend, with games against Memphis (Sat./4:45 p.m.), UConn (Sat./7:15 p.m. & Sun./1:30 p.m.) and Bryant (Sun./9:00 a.m.)

The Panthers are seeking a return to the NCAA postseason in 2019, after earning a 30-25 mark a year ago. FIU will be led by senior Jackie Schoff who earned Preseason All-Conference honors. 

Last season, Schoff collected 69 hits to rank fourth in the league. The Bradenton, Florida native has earned a .387 career batting average at FIU overall, while sitting at 199 career hits entering the 2019 season. Schoff has played in 150 games at FIU, patrolling the outfield for the Panthers.

After the opening weekend, the Panthers will hit the road for the short trip to Fort Myers as FIU takes part in the FGCU Tournament.
