MIAMI (March 2, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team fell 62-53 to Charlotte on Saturday, as the Panthers played their last home game of the 2018-19 season.
FIU trailed by only three points with under two minutes to play, but Charlotte closed out the game on a 6-0 to seal the road win.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 5-23 overall and 2-13 in league play. Charlotte improves to 16-11 and 8-7 in C-USA action with the win.
FIU was led by freshman
Ce'Nara Skanes who posted her eighth doubled-double of the season following her 20-point, 13-rebound performance. Charlotte's Jade Phillips posted a double-double as well after leading the 49ers with 32 points and 15 rebounds.
Charlotte jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the first quarter, but the Panthers fought back as FIU only trailed 25-24 at the break. The 49ers bounced back coming out of the locker room however, to surge their lead to 46-38 entering the final quarter of play. Charlotte held on in the final 10 minutes, despite many attempts by FIU, as the 49ers closed out the game on a 6-0 run to win 62-53.
