AT THE PLATE
In his first career start, freshman
Chris Williams provided lightning in the FIU lineup going 3-for-5 and batting leadoff on Wednesday against FSU. The duo of
Adan Fernandez and
Austin Shenton backed Williams' lightning up with some thunder. Fernandez hit a solo homer over the left field wall to open the Panther scoring in the third, while Shenton slugged a no-doubter over right as well in the fifth to drive in two. Shenton also drove in two more in the third inning to give the junior four RBIs on the day.
LAST TIME OUT
The FIU baseball team began C-USA play in heartbreaking fashion last weekend, after dropping two out of three on the road to the Thundering Herd of Marshall. In the Panthers' lone win on the weekend, reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week
Logan Allen shined once again with five clean innings and eight strikeouts. The Panthers downed the Herd in 10 innings on Friday night, after freshman
Chris Williams knocked out his first collegiate homer to give FIU the 3-0 win. FIU also dropped another heartbreaker against Florida State on Wednesday afternoon in Tallahassee.
UP NEXT
FIU plays a home-and-home with FGCU in midweek action before embarking on its longest road trip of the season that includes a three-game series at rival FAU, a midweek at Houston and a three-game set with Rice.
