MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (March 23, 2019) - The FIU softball team dropped two games to Middle Tennessee on Saturday as the Panthers capped their first pair of road Conference USA games of the year.
The Panthers fell 8-0 in the first game, while dropping a 2-1 heartbreaking to close out Saturday's doubleheader.
FIU and MT will cap the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, with the Panthers seeking to avoid back-to-back sweeps to open C-USA play. With pair of losses, the Panthers fall to 18-14 on the year and 0-5 in C-USA play, while the Blue Raiders move to 17-15 overall and 3-2 in league play.
FIU's
Megan Kugelmann picked up the loss in the first game, after allowing two earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched.
Allison Muraskin went 6.0 innings in the second game, allowing two runs as well as she was dealt the loss.
At the plate, FIU plated one run on the day as junior
Tori Jones hit her first career homer. Jones finished the day going 2-for-5, with her solo shot in the sixth inning of the second game being the highlight.
UP NEXT
After closing out the weekend in Murfreesboro, the Panthers will return home for a weekend home series against North Texas on March 30-31.
