MIAMI (March 30, 2019) – The FIU softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday to visiting North Texas, as the Panthers attempt to avoid the sweep on Sunday to cap the series.
FIU lost the first game 7-0, before falling in a tough 3-0 battle against North Texas to close out the day. With the pair of losses, FIU falls to 18-17 overall and 0-8 in league action, while North Texas moves to 20-12 overall and 9-2 in conference play.

FIU's
Kendahl Dunford pitched a complete game in the opener on Saturday but was dealt the loss after allowing six earned runs on six hits. In game two,
Allison Muraskin also pitched a complete game but was also dealt the loss after allowing three runs to the Mean Green.
At the plate, freshman
Alexis Johns led the Panthers after collecting three hits in the nine spot of the batting order.
Brittany Phillips also earned one hit on the day.
FIU dropped game one by a 7-0 margin, as the Mean Green jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning. From there North Texas platted one run in the third, three in the fourth and one in the sixth to cap the final margin at 7-0.
In the second game, North Texas jumped ahead in the second inning with two runs for the frame, before the Mean Green hit a solo shot in the fourth to extend its lead to 3-0. The final margin would stay at 3-0 with three scoreless innings to follow.
UP NEXT
After Sunday's series finale against North Texas, the Panthers will make the trek up to Boca Raton as FIU takes on Florida Atlantic on April 6-7.
