MIAMI (April 14, 2019) – The FIU softball team fell to Marshall on Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers couldn't pull off the sweep over the Thundering Herd to close out the weekend.
FIU fell to Marshall 7-1 in the series finale. With the loss, FIU drops to 22-20 overall and 4-11 in C-USA play, while Marshall moves its record to 26-15 and 9-6 on the year.
Allison Muraskin was dealt the loss in the circle after allowing four runs in four innings of work.
At the plate,
Tori Jones drove in the Panthers' lone run on the afternoon after her RBI single.
After scoring a run to open the game in the top of the first, the Herd scored three more in the fourth to extend its lead to 4-0. FIU cut the deficit to 4-1 in the bottom half of the fifth as Jones singled home
Madison Lewis. Marshall had a three-run homer in the next half inning, as the Herd capped the final margin at 7-1.

The Panthers will head to Charlotte, North Carolina for a three-game series on April 19-20. Saturday will feature a doubleheader set for 3 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. ET, before Sunday's 4 p.m. ET first pitch.
