Panthers Continue Road Swing at Old Dominion

FIU and Old Dominion set for weekend series

 
MIAMI (April 18, 2019) – Looking for it's third-straight conference series win, the FIU baseball team (16-20, 6-9 Conference USA) heads to Virginia to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs (22-14, 5-10) in a three-game set.

Friday's game is slated for a 6:00 p.m. ET first pitch before a 3:00 p.m. ET start on Saturday and a 12:00 p.m. ET Sunday matinee to end the weekend. All three games can be watched on CUSA.tv. Live stats for the games can be found here. FIU's game notes for the weekend can be found here.

ON THE BUMP
Friday: Logan Allen (4-2, 1.81 ERA) vs Tommy Gertner (1-0, 2.81 ERA)

AT THE PLATE 
The Panther bats have come alive recently, with FIU scoring 59 runs in seven games including a 13 spot against Rice and 16 against Southern Miss on Saturday. The hard-hitting trio of Jose GarciaAustin Shenton and Javier Valdes lead FIU by knocking in 27 runs and homering nine times.

LAST TIME OUT
The FIU won its second-straight C-USA series this past weekend, after the Panthers took two of three over No. 30 Southern Miss. Led by C-USA Pitcher of the Week Logan Allen, the Panthers downed the Golden Eagles 6-4 on Friday night as Allen struck out a career-high 13 batters. FIU earned the series win on Saturday, as the Panthers lit up the scoreboard for a 16-6 victory. USM avoided the sweep on Sunday after taking the weekend capper. The Panthers topped Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday by a score of 7-4 to start the road trip.

UP NEXT
Upon finishing the Virginia leg of the road swing, FIU returns to the 305 to take on Miami in Coral Gables on April 24 before opening the longest homestand of the season with Charlotte on Friday, April 26.
