MIAMI (April 25, 2019) – After playing 13 of the last 17 games on the road, the FIU baseball team (17-23, 7-11 C-USA) starts its longest homestand of the season when the 49ers of Charlotte (14-25-1, 5-12-1 C-USA) come to Miami for a three-game weekend set.

First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, followed by a 6 p.m. ET start time on Saturday and a 12 p.m. ET matinee to close out the weekend on Sunday.

PROMOTIONS 
Saturday night's game is 90's Night at the ballpark. The night will serve as a celebration of all things from the 1990s.
 
ON THE BUMP

Saturday: Nick MacDonald (3-3, 3.93 ERA) vs Bryce McGowan (2-5, 5.04 ERA)

AT THE PLATE 
The turning of the calendar to April has signaled an awakening of the FIU bats. Since April 1, FIU batters are averaging 7.7 runs-per-game. Which is a full two runs more than the season average of 5.5. Austin Shenton has led the renaissance at the plate with 20 RBIs and a 13-game hit streak during that same span. Jose Garcia has smashed six dingers, while driving in 18 runs to assist in the offensive effort over the April stretch. Derek Cartaya has been the biggest beneficiary of the surge, scoring 12 times.

LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers split a four-game road trip that started with 7-4 victory at Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday before heading up north for a three-game set with Old Dominion. The Blue and Gold split the Saturday doubleheader by exploding for 12-runs in the nightcap before falling in the Sunday series finale. FIU dropped a shootout with Miami in the midweek this past Wednesday, 18-10.

UP NEXT
The home swing continues with a midweek against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday, May 1 before the homestand ends with UAB coming to town starting on Friday, May 3.
