ON THE BUMP
Wednesday: Christian Santana (1-2 6.62 ERA) vs Alec Mendez (0-3, 5.80 ERA)

AT THE PLATE
The FIU bats have come alive since the calendar turned to April. The Panthers are averaging 7.1 runs-per-game, which is a full run and a half higher than the season average. Austin Shenton, who is riding a 16-game hit streak, has led the great awakening with .490 batting average and 20 RBIs. Jose Garcia has clubbed eight homers since the first of the month to go along with 23 of his own RBIs. Derek Cartaya is also currently riding a 13-game hitting streak of his own.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite going 1-3 over the week, the FIU baseball team scored 24 runs over the course of four games, including a 10-run outing on Wednesday against crosstown foe Miami.

Franco Aleman pitched a gem in Sunday's 2-1 over Charlotte, as the freshman went the distance while only allowing one run and striking out five to become the first FIU freshman to throw a complete game since Chris Mourelle did it twice in 2014.

UP NEXT
UAB comes to 8th Street on Friday for a three-game weekend set to conclude the longest homestand of the year. Saturday will be Star Wars night at the FIU Baseball Stadium, while the home swing finishes with celebrating of Cinco De Mayo on Sunday.
