MIAMI (Oct. 7, 2020) – The FIU baseball team hosted Scout Day 2020 on Tuesday evening, as the Panthers wowed over 50 professional scouts in the stands with their talents on the diamond. 

"WOW! The pitchers put on a display of velocity and secondary pitches," head coach Mervyl Melendez said following Tuesday night's session. "The position players were equally impressive. Their performance on the field only surpassed their energy."

"Overall, this is one of the best Scouts Days I have ever been a part of," Melendez concluded. 

The session lasted about two hours, with players showing off their fielding, hitting and pitching skills.

This year, FIU returns a hungry veteran leadership core reinforced by some of the country's best underclassmen. The Panthers were off to their best start since 2014 before the 2020 season was halted back in the spring.
