MIAMI (Feb. 11, 2021) - The FIU softball team opens its 2021 season officially on Friday, Feb. 12, as the Panthers welcome visiting FAU and Winthrop for the Felsberg Invitational. FIU takes on FAU at 3:00 p.m. and Winthrop at 6:00 p.m, before closing out the weekend versus the Eagles of Winthrop one more time on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m.

WELCOME BACK
Entering the second season of the Chris Steiner-Wilcoxson era at FIU, the Panthers won eight games in her first season, including victories over Power-5 foes Cal and Syracuse, prior to the year being cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

SCOUTING FAU/WINTHROP
This Friday's games will mark a season opener for all squads, as softball returns to action this weekend. FAU capped a shortened 2020 with an 8-14 record, while Winthrop finished 12-11 in 2020. 

UP NEXT
Following this weekend's Felsberg Invitational, the Panthers will hit the road for Fort Myers, Florida, as FIU faces UConn, Northern Illinois and host-FGCU on Feb. 19-21. 

FAN ATTENDANCE
Due to physical distancing requirements, the total capacity at FIU Athletics events will be reduced this season. FIU's softball games will be limited to 125 fans this spring due to the COVID-19 repopulation plan. For more information on tickets, call 305-FIU-GAME or visit here.
