MIAMI (March 4, 2021) - The FIU softball team will continue its road swing this weekend, as the Panthers travel to Boca Raton for the FAU Invitational. 

FIU faces Illinois State (1:00 p.m.) and Pittsburgh (3:30 p.m.) on Friday afternoon, before a rematch against Illinois State (12:30 p.m.) and a weekend finale versus Coastal Carolina (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers capped their weekend in Clermont with an 11-5 win over New Mexico State, after bouncing back from losses last Friday and Saturday. Venessa Gallegos hit her second home run of the year, which came in the narrow defeat to No. 12 Kentucky.

SCOUTING THE FOES
Illinois State enters the weekend at 3-2 overall, while Pittsburgh owns a 4-7 mark and Coastal Carolina sports a 5-5 record. All three of this weekend's opponents have momentum swelling as they travel to Boca Raton, with the Redbirds winning their last two games, the Panthers taking three of their last four and the Chanticleers winning their previous three. 

UP NEXT
After a road contest at UCF on Thursday, March 11, the Panthers finally return home on March 13-14 as FIU hosts South Dakota for a three-game series.
