MIAMI (April 7, 2021) - Andjela Skrobonja of FIU women's tennis was named the ITA UTR National Player of the Week, the ITA announced on Wednesday.

The ITA UTR Player of the Week honors a collegiate tennis player whose increase in UTR rating throughout the previous week was indicative of her high level of performance, including notable wins such as clinching matches and upsets. Skrobonja's UTR score rose from 9.31 to 9.64 thanks to an undefeated weekend and match-clincher over No. 28 Rice.

With Friday's match against No. 28 Rice on the line, Skrobonja rallied to win six-straight games in the third set and clinch the 4-3 win for the Panthers. For the weekend, the freshman won two singles matches and earned a pair of wins in doubles with first-time partner Kamila Umarova

After the victories over No. 28 Rice and USF, the Panthers are 9-0 on the year which is the best start in program history since 1994. Furthermore, the ranked win over Rice was the team's highest since 2010. Overall, the Panthers have won their last 15 matches.
