MIAMI (Sept. 14, 2021) - The FIU men's soccer team is ranked No. 13 in the country for the second consecutive week, according to the
United Soccer Coaches' Top-25 poll released on Tuesday afternoon.
FIU stands as the highest-ranked program in the state of Florida, and one of five Conference USA schools to be either ranked or receiving votes in national polls.
The Panthers are coming off a decisive 4-2 victory over UT Rio Grande Valley this past Sunday, Sept. 12. Prior to that, FIU defeated No. 12 VCU in FIU's home opener (Sept. 4) by a shutout score of 1-0. In FIU's season opener on Aug. 26, the Panthers dominated No. 13 UCF by a score of 4-0 in Orlando.
FIU stands as one of the only programs in the country to have defeated two squads that were previously ranked Top-15.
The Panthers have only allowed three goals all season, posting clean sheets in three of their five contests. An FIU defender has scored in every game, proving the Panthers' backline also has the ability to generate offense for the club.
