NASHVILLE, Tenn (February 12, 2022) - Senior
Daira Deicmane broke a 21-year FIU school record in the indoor 800 and a trio of Panthers broke into the FIU top ten lists as the Panthers excelled Friday and Saturday at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
"This was a terrific meet for our mid-distance and distance crew," said head coach
Jermaine Felix. "Daira ran a fantastic race - she deserved the new record and I'm proud to see her accomplish that."
FINAL RESULTS
Deicmane ran 2:10.51 to place fourth of 44 athletes, and best her previous personal record of 2:11:40, which was set during the Conference USA Outdoor Championships last season. She eclipses the school record of Liz Borrell, who set the mark at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in 2001.
In the 3000, a pair of Panthers also hit some of the best marks in FIU history.
Andrea Loizidou climbed to third all-time in the 3000 with a mark of 9:54.62, surpassing Paola Reategui's mark from 2008. In the mile,
Leonarda Farkas set the third-best mark with a time of 5:00.85, passing Liz Borrell's mark from 2000, while
