BOWLING GREEN, Ky (October 28, 2023) - The FIU women's cross country program matched its best finish at the Conference USA Championships in program history, running to a fourth place mark Saturday morning in Bowling Green.
RESULTS
Andrea Loizidou led the Panthers, finishing 10th and earning second-team all-conference honors with a tim of 22:14 in the 6K.
Lorena Bartakovic also earned second-team honors, finishing 13th in 22:18.
Junior
Valerie Lastra followed closely behind, earning third-team honors with a 22:26, and
Ane Martin Del Campo joined on the third-team finishing in 22:35.
Ania San Roman Lopez completed the scoring for FIU, finishing in in 22nd.
"I'm tremendously proud of this group," said head distance coach
Jermaine Felix, who has guided FIU to its second consecutive fourth-place mark at CUSAs. "We saw some great, team packing running today, and the final performances reflected that."
The FIU men were led by
Ryan Jones, who completed the 8K course in 26:40, nearly a minute personal best.
Josh Webster followed in 26:47, a minute personal best.
Dennis Moreno,
Joseph Coyle, and
Jonathan Reyes rounded out the scoring for FIU.
The NCAA South Regional will take place Friday, November 10 in Gainesville, Florida.
