Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 45 FIU came up short to the seventh-ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Friday afternoon, earning the doubles point, though, coming up on the short end of a singles rally that saw the Aggies earn a 4-1 victory at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
Salma Loudili and
Katerina Mandelikova collected a 6-4 win for their fourth together at the No. 3 spot over TAMU's Mia Kupres and Gianna Pielet, while
Yasmine Kabbaj and Oyinlomo picked up a top-40 ranked win at the No. 2 position to clinch the point and push their streak to four matches.
Kabbaj and Oyinlomo dropped Texas A&M's No. 34 Salma Ewing and Jayci Goldsmith, 7-5, to cruise into singles with the advantage.
From there, the Aggies came to life in collecting five first-set wins prior to TAMU's No. 121 Kupress tied the match with a win over
Kamila Umarova in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
No. 37 Carson Branstine cut
Ekaterina Khairutdinova's three-match streak at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3, to hand the Aggies the lead, while No. 77 Goldsmith pulled away in a second-set tiebreak over
Oyinlomo Quadre in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 7-6 (3), for the 3-1 margin.
Yasmine Kabbaj and
Katerina Mandelikova battled in a pair of three-setters on the No. 1 and No. 5 courts, respectively, though,
Salma Loudili unfortunately fell in No. 6 singles, 6-7 (4), 2-6, to Jeanette Mireles to see the Aggies come away with the 4-1 decision.

No. 45 FIU returns to action in Miami, hosting North Texas at the FIU Tennis Courts on Sunday, Feb. 26. First serve is slated for a noon start.
