Baseball to Face Miami at FIU Baseball Stadium

Panthers host the first of four games between the rivals

MIAMI (Mar. 14, 2023) – Baseball welcomes the University of Miami to FIU Baseball Stadium on Wednesday March 15 with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
 
NEVER OUT
The Panthers are on an eight-game winning streak and have won the majority of those games in dramatic fashion.
 
Four of the victories have come via walk-off, they fought back from multi-run deficits four times and played extra innings twice.
 
In a four-game sweep of Harvard, the Panthers won on a walk-off three times including a 18-17 victory in a 12 inning game.
 
Against Marist, FIU went down 9-0 after three innings of the final game of the series but fought back to win 13-12.
 
RAKING
FIU currently boasts seven players hitting above .300 after 17 games.
 
Redshirt senior Mike Rosario is leading the team in average with a .371 from the leadoff spot. His 26 hits and four home runs are also team highs. The outfielder has also stolen a team-best nine bases and is in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak.
 
Junior Adrian Figueroa is second in average at .358 and RBI with 15.
 
Junior Ryne Guida leads the Panthers in RBI with 23, has earned 23 hits in 67 at bats and has tallied three home runs.
 
Junior Dante Girardi has pushed his average to .328. He is second on the team in runs scored with 18 and leads the Panthers in walks with 13.
 
Junior Henry Wallen has been hot over the last eight games. Earning a hit in seven of the eight games and multiple hits in four. Wallen has 14 RBI and is sporting a .311 average
 
IN BUNCHES
The Panthers offense has been solid all season and has caught fire recently.
 
In 2023 FIU has pushed home 124 runs across 17 games.
 
They have scored at least five runs in 10 games and reached double digits five times, including in the last three games.

During the current eight-game win streak FIU is outscoring its opponents 83-62
 
SCOUTING THE CANES
Miami is 10-6 this season and are coming off a 2-1 series win over NC State.
 
Junior Yohandy Morales leads the Hurricanes offense with a team-high 23 hits. He has played and started in all 16 games this season hitting for .383 with five home runs and 20 RBI.
 
Sophomore Karson Ligon has been a force on the mound for Miami this season. In four starts he has pitched a team-high 25 innings, holds a 2-0 record, a 3.96 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

UP NEXT
The Panthers open C-USA play on the road this week against Dallas Baptist. The series begins on Friday March 17 with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on the Patriot Broadcasting Network.
