Baseball Opens C-USA Play Against Conference Newcomer Dallas Baptist

Panthers on the road for first C-USA series

MIAMI (Mar. 16, 2023) – Baseball opens Conference USA action this weekend with a road series against the newest member of the Conference Dallas Baptist.

Game one is on Friday March 17 with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.
 
HITTING ON ALL CYLINDERS
FIU currently boast eight players hitting above .280 after 18 games.
 
Junior Ryne Guida leads the Panthers in average, currently sitting at .357, and in RBI with 25. He is second on the team in hits with 25 and home runs with three.
 
Redshirt senior Mike Rosario is second on the team in average with a .347 from the leadoff spot. His 26 hits and four home runs are also team highs. The outfielder has also stolen a team-best nine bases.
 
Junior Adrian Figueroa is hitting .358, is tied for second in RBI with 15 and hits with 25.
 
Junior Dante Girardi's average is at .333. He is second on the team in runs scored with 19 and leads the Panthers in walks with 13.
 
Redshirt junior Henry Wallen is hitting .292 through 14 appearances. He has 14 hits, two home runs and 14 RBI this season.
 
Junior Steven Ondina is on a four-game hit streak and pushed his average to .281.
 
IN BUNCHES
The Panthers offense has been solid all season.
 
In 2023 FIU has pushed home 127 runs across 18 games.
 
They have scored at least five runs in 10 games and reached double digits five times.
 
FIU has not been shutout in 2023.
 
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
DBU is 11-6 this season and is coming off a 20-4 loss to No. 12 Oklahoma State.
 
Freshman Grant Jay is leading the Patriot offense. He leads the team in average with .432, walks with 13 and home runs at four.
 
Redshirt sophomore Bryson Hammer has been strong on the mound for DBU. Through 21 innings pitched he is 3-1, has a 2.14 ERA and 25 strikeouts.
