MIAMI (Mar. 27, 2023) – Baseball opens a five-game road stretch on Tuesday March 28 when they take on No. 23 Miami. First pitch at Mark Light Field is set for 6 p.m.
HITTING ON ALL CYLINDERS
FIU currently boasts five starters hitting above .300 after 25 games.
Junior
Ryne Guida has been the Panthers most consistent hitter and leads the team with a .351 average. He also leads the team in hits with 34 and RBI with 30. His 3- RBI rank second in Conference-USA.
Junior
Dante Girardi sits tied for second in average at .330. He is the team leader in walks with 16 and holds the longest hit streak this season at 13 games.
Redshirt senior
Mike Rosario is tied for second on the team in average with a .330 from the leadoff spot. His 33 hits rank second on the team, while his five home runs and 14 stolen bases are team highs. The 14 stolen bases are also a conference high.
Junior
Adrian Figueroa is hitting .323 and is third in RBI with 19 and hits with 31.
Redshirt senior
Alec Sanchez holds a .303 average. Since returning from injury he is hitting .300 with four RBI and two home runs.
IN BUNCHES
In 2023 FIU has pushed home 169 runs across 25 games.
They have scored at least five runs in 15 games and reached double digits six times.
The Panthers are 10-5 in games in which they score at least five runs.
FIU has not been shutout in 2023.
OUT THE GATE
Pitcher
Orlando Hernandez put in one of the best performances of the season in the win over UAB.
The righty came into the game in the second inning and proceeded to blank the Blazers. He allowed only two hits over his three innings, with no runs and two strike outs.
SCOUTING THE HURRICANES
Miami is 15-9 this season and is coming off a series sweep loss to No. 2 Wake Forest.
Junior CJ Kayfus is leading the way for the Miami offense. He is hitting a team-best .333. He is tied for the top spot in hits with 29 and home runs with six. He is the walks leader with 18.
Sophomore Gage Ziehl has been a top arm for UM in 2023. In his team-high 31.2 innings he is 3-3 with a 5.40 ERA and leads the team with 39 strike outs.
UP NEXT
The Panthers are back on the road for a weekend C-USA series against Middle Tennessee. Game one is on Friday March 31 with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
