MIAMI (Apr. 13, 2023) – The FIU Baseball team is on the road this weekend, taking on Louisiana Tech in a C-USA series. Game one is on Friday April 14 with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
 
THE HITS KEEP ROLLING
FIU currently boasts five starters hitting above .300 after 33 games.
 
Junior Ryne Guida has been the Panthers most consistent hitters in 2023. He leads the team in average at .352, is second in hits with 45 and number one in RBI with 34.
 
FIU leadoff man Mike Rosario is FIU's hottest bat. He is second in average at .346, leads FIU in hits, runs, home runs and stolen bases with 46, 38, seven and 17, respectively. He has registered multiple hits in four of his last seven games.
 
Alec Sanchez now sits third in average at .326. He is 11-29 in the last 12 games, driving in 12 RBI and hitting three home runs.
 
Junior Dante Girardi is hitting .312 this season. In the series against Florida Atlantic, he went 5-11, crossed home plate five times and drove in three RBI.
 
Adrian Figueroa had a great series against FAU and raised his batting average to .310, going 5-11 with four RBI and a home run. Figueroa also leads the Panthers in walks with 20.
 
IN BUNCHES
In 2023 FIU has pushed home 228 runs across 33 games.
 
They have scored at least five runs in 24 games and reached double digits nine times.
 
FIU has not been shutout in 2023.
 
LEADERS IN THE PACK
The C-USA stat leader top 10s are littered with Panthers.
 
Rosario and Guida are two of the top hitters in the conference owning eight top 10 spots between the two of them.
 
Guida is fifth in hits, seventh in RBI and ninth in average. Rosario is fourth in runs scored, sixth in hits, ninth in RBI and leads the conference in steals.
 
On the mound, Angel Tiburcio has been having a strong season, currently ranked in the top 10 in hits allowed, earned runs allowed and walks issued.
 
In the field, Figueroa and Girardi have been leading the way.
 
Girardi is tied for second in the conference in assists at 89.
 
Figueroa has registered the third most putouts in C-USA with 283.
 
The duo are the second best double play tandem having turned 39 this season.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Louisiana Tech is 16-18 this season and enter the weekend on a three-game losing streak.
 
Junior Dalton Davis is the leader of the Bulldogs offense. He is hitting .267, leads the team in hits with 35, had 24 RBI and 13 walks.
 
Redshirt senior Jonathan Fincher has been a top arm for LA Tech in 2023. In his team-high 49.1 innings he is 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA and 52 strikeouts, both team bests.
