Baseball Closes Five-Game Road Trip Against Stetson

Panthers return to Florida for midweek clash

MIAMI (Apr. 3, 2023) – Baseball closes its five-game road trip on Tuesday against Stetson. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
 
THE HITS KEEP ROLLING
FIU currently boasts five starters hitting above .300 after 26 games.
 
Junior Ryne Guida has been the Panthers most consistent hitter and leads the team with a .357 average. He is second on the team in hits with 40 and leads the team in RBI with 32.
 
Redshirt senior Mike Rosario is second on the team in average with a .356 from the leadoff spot. His 42 hits, seven home runs and 16 stolen bases are team highs.
 
Redshirt senior Alec Sanchez holds a .325 average. He had at least one hit in all four games last week, multiple hits in two of them and compiled five RBI.
 
Junior Dante Girardi is hitting .312. He is second on the team in walks with 16 and holds the longest hit streak this season at 13 games.
 
Junior Adrian Figueroa sits fifth in average with a .307. He is third in both hits and RBI with 35 and 20, respectively.

The two sides meet ealier this season with the Panthers coming away with a 5-0 victory against Stetson at FIU Baseball Stadium.
 
IN BUNCHES
In 2023 FIU has pushed home 201 runs across 29 games.
 
They have scored at least five runs in 23 games and reached double digits eight times.
 
FIU has not been shutout in 2023.
 
LEADERS IN THE PACK
The C-USA stat leader top 10s are littered with Panthers.
 
Rosario and Guida are two of the top hitters in the conference owning eight top 10 spots between the two of them.
 
Guida is currently eighth in average, fifth in hits and fourth in RBI.

Rosario is fifth in runs scored, fifth in hits, 10th in RBI, seventh in home runs and No. 1 in steals.
 
On the mound, Angel Tiburcio has been having a strong season, He currently ranks in the top 10 in hits allowed, earned runs allowed and walks issued.
 
In the field, Figueroa and Girardi have been leading the way.
 
Girardi ranks fourth in assists with 67 with Figueroa ranking third in putouts with 241.
 
The duo are the second best double play tandem having helped turn 39 this season.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE HATTERS
Stetson is 18-11 this season and is coming off a three-game sweep of North Alabama.
 
Graduate student David Bermudez is leading the way for the Hatters offense. He is hitting .320 and leads the team in hits and RBI with 31 and 26, respectively.
 
Junior Austin Amaral has been a top arm for Stetson in 2023. In his team-high 38.1 innings he is 4-2 with a team-bests in ERA at 3.05 and strike outs with 48.
 
UP NEXT
Baseball is back at home this week to host FAU in a three-game C-USA series. Game one is on Thursday April 6 with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Fans can also watch the game love on C-USA TV.
