MIAMI, Fla. - The NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Subcommittee selected the 64 teams and 16 first- and second-round sites for the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship on Monday evening, as the 36th-ranked FIU women's tennis team was selected to compete in the Coral Gables regional, hosted by Miami, with a first-round matchup against No. 18 Auburn on Friday, May 5, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Panthers ran the table as the top seed in at the C-USA Championship, earning the C-USA auto bid and their 12
th appearance in program history at the upcoming NCAA Championships, while also marking their third straight NCAA Championship appearance in as many seasons. FIU holds an 18-4 (3-1 C-USA) overall record entering Friday's matchup.
After FIU's match Friday morning, host No. 15 Miami will face Boston University for a 1 p.m. first serve.
The Tigers are 18-8 (8-5 SEC) this year and are the third-highest-ranked non-host in the tournament. Auburn has two ranked singles players in Carolyn Ansari and Ariana Arsenault at No. 23 and No. 33, respectively, as well as two ranked doubles duos. Ansari and Arsenault together place No. 34, while Anastasia Astakhova and Adeline Flach come in at No. 72.
First- and second-round competition takes place May 5-6 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to super-regional competition May 12 or 13. Each super-regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super-regional winners advance to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 17-20.

The two winners of Friday's matches at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center will square off Saturday at 1 p.m. with a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16 on the line.
